Shamsi Farzana

Assistant. Professor, Department of English, Shanto-Mariam University of Creative Technology, Uttara, Dhaka, Bangladesh, Email: shamsiaparajita@gmail.com

Abstract

This article focuses on three core dimensions: Teachers and students with a wide curricular approach should concentrate on comprehensiveness and apply the strategies in reading and writing of analytical issues. The students will belong to in total four universities around Dhaka. I will also mostly depend on conceptual and theoretical books of- Mike Rose, “Remedial Writing Courses: A critique and a proposal,” and Linda Flower’s “Writer-Based prose: A Cognitive Basis for problems in Writing,” I along with co-researchers will also visit different universities and affiliated colleges in Dhaka and converse with different learners of both the language and literature classes, guardians and teachers. Two sets of questionnaires will be introduced: one for teacher and another for students. Two questionnaires will serve for survey for students and teachers. Students will make group work. In this study, qualitative variable will be used. Here I will assist the teachers to think and explore the way to improve university students’ writing skill in the target level. As a result, I will try to find evidence or supports about how effectively a teacher can educate the learners at the tertiary level by going to four major public and private universities who will sit for pre-test and after training post-test. These variables are independent variables and their pre-assured narrative writing skill remained the same as they cannot think of things by themselves since they depend on teachers or notes which a dependable variable is. Here Teachers’ efficacy in carrying out their development is the intervening variable. I will take interviews of resource persons for conducting a grounded theory through Stratified Random Sampling regarding such an approach. Afterwards, I will make necessary notes based on the findings. I will arrange those inputs (10 questions) into a Likart scale. Then Qualitative Data can be converted to Quantitative Data by the same Likart Scale. By using parametric tests. Then their relation or their compare/contrast status will be presented through Regression Model when reduced to nominal levels of agree versus disagree through Chi-square test in order to infer a theory. I hope other researchers around the world tried and got a solution. Though a few numbers of learners could improve well but a great number of them still will be struggling in Bangladesh. My research will highlight on their progress by the leadership, guidance and counselling attitude of the teacher.

Key Words: Teachers’ Efficacy, Cognitive Strategy, Analytical Writing, Tertiary EFL students.

ANALYSIS OF MARKET GROWTH STRATEGIES IN A MULTINATIONAL COMPANY: A CASE OF HISENSE

Mohammad Salamah Almahairah, Department of Business Administration,, Al-Isra University, Amman, Jordan

Abstract

The purpose of the study is to analyze the different business growth strategies of a multinational company. I have taken Hisense as a case. A growth strategy is one under which management plans to advance further and achieve growth of the enterprise, in fields of manufacturing, marketing, financial resources etc. As growth entails risk, especially in a dynamic economy, a growth strategy might be described as the safest policy of growth-maximizing gains and minimizing risk and untoward consequences. Setting strategic directions for a business is the most complex task facing the management team and these complexities arise from a variety of reasons that is peculiar to strategy making. This is so because strategy making is about the future and this future is unknown since the paths companies follow are dynamic as strategies can be developed through a complex combination of various processes. My study tries to identify the strategic market types implemented by a multinational company. Secondly how the strategic types affect the market share of this company. I have achieved it through a case study of Hisense whereby the concept of market growth strategy has been used.

The Effects of COVID-19 on Private Banking sector of Bangladesh

Mir Mahmudul Haque Chowdhury, M.Phil. Fellow, Department of Accounting & Information System, Islamic University, Kushtia, Bangladesh

Afroza Sultana, Lecturer, Southeast University, Dhaka, Bangladesh

Abstract

To explore the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic on Private Banking sector is the main objective of the study. We have used twelve years’ historical data from 2008 to 2019 of the aggregate private commercial banks in order to explore trends and examine the effect of pandemic on the past critical success factors. The result shows that the pandemic has effect on both balance sheet and income statement of banks. The effect is shadowed during the current year due to good performance record all through pre COVID period. Nevertheless, it won’t take much time to feel the effect of the pandemic in the private banking system as well.  Therefore, the notion of considering banks less vulnerable to the crisis should be swatted. The study identified immediate liquidity need of around Taka 17 billion to private banks so that they can comfortably meet the CRR’s liquidity requirement. This in fact will be challenged by less resource mobilization and reduced loan collection of Taka 10 billion per quarter. The banking business after Covid-19 shall be intensified with new sources of growth: advisory services, e-commerce, digitalization, e-banking services etc. Online and digitalization will be the way forward. Comprehensive reform and finance sector restructuring programs should be thought of in order to accommodate such changes and speed up the recovery process.

Key Words: COVID-19, Private Bank, Bangladesh.
